Where we pay attention, we lend our power

There’s a meme that says, “when you see something beautiful speak on it.” One of my spiritual practices is also not to speak about that which is ugly and divisive.

A beautiful story I heard about Will Smith and Denzel Washington is from 20 years ago.

Will reportedly made a phone call to Denzel and tried out a speech pattern he was trying to perfect for his role as Muhamad Ali. Denzel told Will that focusing on an accent wasn’t where he would start preparing for the role. “Get on a plane and fly to Michigan. Pray with Ali.”

The Adoration Economy is real, “where we pay attention is where we lend our power.”
